Media Release
Canada, Sep 2: Canara World Foundation proudly presents “Canara Talent Search” on 8th November 2009 at the Sapphire Banquet hall, Derry Road, Mississauga, from 10:30AM to 3:30PM.
The objective of this Talent show is to provide a platform to the community to showcase their talents and more importantly to instil a sense of pride in the children who strive to find their roots in a foreign land.
The successful candidates from this Talent search will have an opportunity to perform with leading Mangalorean artists & singers who will be flown from abroad to perform in “Canara Kala Saanz 2010”.
Canara world foundation is encouraged by the overwhelming success of several shows over the last half a decade. These shows have given Canadian Mangaloreans an opportunity to enjoy and perform with legendary Mangalorean artists like Wilfy & Meena Rebimbus, Henry D’souza, Claude D’Souza, Vishwas Rebimbus, Prem Lobo, Sandria Rodrigues and Joswin Pinto. In addition, the events have been successful in identifying and have promoted several local artistes to perform in various fields such as Singing, Dancing and Music to perform with overseas artists.
Children and adults are encouraged to be enthusiastic participants in this event. Different categories of entertainment like dancing, singing, acting are encouraged. The event will provide myriad possibilities for people of all age groups to showcase their talents and proficiency.
While Konkani is the predominant focus of the function, participants are welcome to choose any language of their choice.
Max Mendes, President of Canara World Foundation briefed the media about the vision and challenges of hosting such events and said it is a dream for most Mangaloreans living outside India to keep alive their rich culture. There are many Konkani promoting associations and groups in the Middle Eastern countries. However, in North America, it is an uphill task to organise such talent shows, Nataks or sangeeth sabhas because the Mangaloreans are spread across the continent and have severe time constraints. By organising a Talent search Canara World Foundation is not only promoting culture but encouraging the community to display their talents. It is the endeavour of the organisers to give the audience authentic dose of our culture, a recognition to proud sponsors and to sustain cultural activities in Canada in days and years to follow.
The entrance to Canara Talent search is FREE for all participants and guests, however entry passes need to be obtained by paying $10 deposit which will be refunded at the door. 50% of the passes are reserved to the participants and their immediate family members.
