Mangaluru: Music enthusiasts enjoy third Lawrence Nite

Mangaluru, Dec 16: Lawrence Nite held at Jeppu Seminary ground in the city on Sunday, December 15 was a big hit with music enthusiasts enjoying every moment of it.

It was a first musical, third for Lawrence Baptist, a well-known singer and musician for more than three decades. His dream of staging a musical event did not materialize for so many years in spite of many attempts. Now with the help of music lovers and well-wishers he has made it.

Before the show started a brief stage programme was held. Rector of Jeppu Seminary Fr Ronald Serrao, Fr Clifford Fernandes, parish priest, Jeppu, renowned singer ‘Konkan Maina’ Meena Rebimbus, president Abhaya Friends Nirmal D'Souza, Philip J Pereira, writer Edi Netto, Alwyn Tauro, producer of musical nite and Lawrence Baptist graced the stage.

Newly elected corporators Lancelot Pinto, Naveen D’Souza and Jacintha Alfred were felicitated during the stage programme.

Congratulating musician-cum-singer Lawrence, and producer Alwyn, Fr Ronald said, “Music unites us all and it brings a new joy in our hearts. We are now in festive season and the musical nite doubled our festive mood. In our community, we have lot of talents and need proper stage for them. By his musical nite he has not only added a number for his nites but also has provided a proper stage for budding talents. At the same time, Alwyn Tauro, the producer of this event known for his social service and helping mentality. Every time he donates the amount whatever is left after the event. This is appreciable.”

Sophia Tauro welcomed the gathering and writer CJS Taccodecompered the stage programme.

Lawrence began the musical nite with a prayer song after the stage programme. Every song sung after that had melody and music with clarity of words. Lawrence had composed all the songs and also tuned them. Pappan-Joswin provided the music.

Ivan Sequeira, Claude D’Souza, Joseph Mathais, Zeena Pereira, Ashwin D’Costa, Shalom Pinto, Ashwija Mendonca and Adline Pinto sang in the musical nite with Lawrence.

Team of Shifali-Sherin and Udenthiche Kalakar entertained the spectators with their dance numbers and comedy skits respectively.

Rikitha Pais and Avin Kutinha compered the event. The event was sponsored by Abhaya Friends.

    What a nite what a show.Everyone enjoyed .The comedy jokes was full of laughter. The background music was too good.Lawrence was outstanding with his voice..The crowd at their feet.Superb performance all round.
