Sullia, Dec 17: A lineman who was working on an electric pole got electrocuted as power got transmitted through the high tension power line on which he was working, unexpectedly. He instantly got electrocuted. This incident happened at Chembu village near Sampaje on the district border with Kodagu on Monday, December 16 morning.
The deceased was Yogeesh C R (24), son of Rajashekharayya living at Kadur near Arasikere. He was hired by Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Company.
The deceased has left behind parents and a sister. A case about this incident was filed in Madikeri rural police station.
Yogeesh was working as a lineman in Chembu area since the last four years. He was engaged in repair works on a transformer located next to a plantation owned by Gopalakrishna near Anehalla in Chembu when power suddenly rushed through the high tension line. He fell down. The locals immediately took him to the district hospital at Madikeri but before reaching there, he had breathed his last, the doctors at the hospital said.
Officials of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company, police personnel, officials and people's representatives visited the spot.
