Udupi: Raghupati Bhat awards teachers, schools for achieving academic excellence

Udupi, Dec 22: Udupi constituency-level awards for teachers and schools for academic excellence were presented by MLA Raghupati Bhat at a programme held in Brahmavar here on Friday, December 2O.

The programme was sponsored by MLA K Raghupati Bhat, and deputy director of public education department Sheshashayana Karinja who was also the president of the selection committee.

Addressing the gathering, Bhat said, "This will help in the intellectual development of students. The ranking system will support in getting a good result. Students will get the courage to face challenges in life.

"We are organising this programme by Yaksha Shikshana Trust and plan to extend this to the primary school level in the first phase. Chinnara Yaksha Sambhrama is the first programme in the state. Such programmes give more satisfaction than other activities," he added.

Sheshashayana, DDPI and other school teachers were present. Ashok Kamath, Kundapur BEO compered the programme.

The main purpose of organizing the event is to encourage better performance in the education sector. The awards are given to teachers who have achieved cent per cent result in their subject as well as their school.

The award aims to improve academic performance and encourage teachers to show more interest in achieving a high score. The awards were instituted in the year 2OO4 by K Raghupati Bhat. It had been suspended for a while, but now Bhat has started the project again.

Followed by the stage function and felicitation programme, students of Yaksha Shikshana performed Yakshagana.
