Mangaluru: Chief minister announces Rs 10 lac compensation for families of Nausheen, Jaleel

Mangaluru, Dec 22: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Sunday December 22 announced a compensation of Rs 10 lac each to the families of the two persons who were killed in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Mangaluru three days ago.

The anti-CAA protests in Mangaluru on December 19 had turned violent. Abdul Jaleel of Kandak and Nausheen of Kudroli were killed after police opened fire in response to stone-pelting by protesters.

The chief minister had met the bereaved families during his visit to the city on Saturday December 21. He also announced that a probe will be ordered into the police firing after discussions with the home minister.

CM Yediyurappa has asked Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner to release the compensation to the families immediately.

On Sunday, former CM H D Kumaraswamy also visited both the families and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lac each.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against the protesters, in which both Nausheen and Jaleel have also been named.

    Mangalore IPS officer is a BJP in a IPS clothing. He is hand in glove with the current BJP government and is responsible for the death of two people in Mangalore . Who else would use gun and tear gas on small crowd of peaceful protesters? He should be replaced by a competent IPS officer who is not racist and people friendly

    Yes, Every Citizen has got equal rights to protest. Even I know it...but never read anywhere in my constitution "stone pelting protest" and "Violent protest".

    imagined myself being that minor school going girl who asked help of dad when the school van left them on middle of the way. Humanity doesn’t come easily need to be felt Ma’am.

    Hope you read the news article completely and analyses before commenting. If that daughter was aware of her dad’s death then she wouldn’t have called him for help. Wish God give you a tender heart to feel pain of a young girl who lost her father.

    What is the use of this compensation? Will it bring back the dead?

    Police should have anticipated the situation and should have been ready with more force. In areas like Kalaburgi, Davangere and even Bengaluru the number of protesters were like 10,000 but the situation did not go out of control.

    Very poor mob management by the present city police commissioner.
