Dubai: Renowned singer Anita D’Souza Bela chosen for EKKU Award

Dubai, Dec 24: Renowned singer Anita D’Souza Bela is selected for the fourth prestigious Emirates Konkans Kasargod Deanery Achievers’ Award 2018-2019.

“Anita’s achievement in the field of music is undisputable and through her achievements she has shown to the world that talent that exists in Mangalurean origin, especially of Kasargod Konkan Christians. We are proud of her successes and through this award, we, the deanery of Kasargod honour her,” said the press statement of Emirates Konkans' Kasargod, UAE (EKKU).

EKKU, the association of Kasargod Deanery Konkans, residing in UAE, honour achievers from Kasargod deanery with this achievers’ award once in a two years and this is the fourth award. The first award was given to well-known artist Wilson Kayyar in 2013, second award to Br Joseph Crasta of Snehalaya in 2015 and third to athlete Vinola D’Souza in 2017.

The award, known as the biggest honour in Kasargod deanery, consists of a memento, facilitation and Rs 20,000 in cash.

"Anita D’Souza, a native of Bela of Kasargod deanery is in the field of music since her childhood and has secured various awards and honors already. She has rendered her voice for more than 100 musical albums. She also performed in same number of stage shows all over India and abroad in many languages. Anita is the only female singer from Konkani community who can sing in 13 languages on an open stage. Through this award, we the people of deanery got an opportunity to respect her talents and achievements,” says the statement of EKKU.

The award ceremony will be held during the annual event of EKKU in 2020.

The statement was released by EKKU president Vincent Rodrigues Kollangana in the presence of Rocky Kayyar (Vice President), Edward Bela (General Secretary) and Santhosh Perla (Founder president).
