Mumbai, Sep 21: Konkani Taram, a social, cultural and liturgical association of St Jude’s Church, Jerimeri celebrated Monti Fest on the occasion of their 19th annual day, recently.
About 400 children carried flowers and offered traditional hymns ‘Sokkod Sangatha Mellyam’ and ‘Moriek Hogollsiam’. Corns (Novem) blessed by Fr Charles Vas and a mass in honour of Mother Mary con-celebrated by Fr Theo Fernandes, Fr Stephen and Fr Frank Fernandes.
During felicitation programme, SSC toppers were honoured with gift vouchers sponsored by George Furtado and a certificate of appreciation from Konkani Taram. Flora D’Souza was honoured by association for her selfless service and efforts put in for the noble causes taken up by Konkani Taram. The co-members Joseph D’Souza and Melony Corderio too were honoured for their efforts.
Association also honoured the representative of LEMON TV Channel, Navin Singh. LEMON TV has telecasted Monti Fest news of Konkani Taram, Jerimeri and Mount Mary, Bandra in their channel.
John Mascarenhas, Benjamin Miranda and Konkani Taram group organized a melodious singing with professional music. All readings were done by children in Konkani, which reminded the gathered, the traditional Mangalorean-style Monti Fest celebrations.
Sugarcane, snacks and sweets were distributed to all and books were distributed to children.
