Mangalore, Sep 24: The Shiradi stretch was closed for traffic with boulders sliding on to the road from the hillock on Wednesday September 23, a kilometer away from temple at the border of the Shiradi stretch.
About 50 km-National Highway is filled with stones and mud following heavy rains on Wednesday in the region. Vehicles in thousands are stranded on the both the ends if the stretch.
The non-completion of works that was undertaken last week for removing boulders at the hillocks on the sides of the stretch is touted to the reason behind the incident.
