DMK walks out of the Assembly over CAA


Chennai, Jan 7 (IANS): For the second day in succession members of the DMK led by party President M.K. Stalin on Tuesday walked out of the Assembly after the Speaker P. Dhanapal denied him chance to speak on Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

The Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Stalin raised the issue of CAA and said the house pass a resolution on the matter.

The party had earlier submitted a letter to the Assembly Secretariat for a resolution on the CAA.

The Speaker Dhanapal told Stalin that the issue is under his consideration and a decision will be taken on that.

Following this the DMK members walked out of the assembly.
