Nirbhaya's mom confident that court will respond in her favour

New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS): A Delhi Court on Tuesday reserved its order on the application seeking issuance of death warrant against the four convicts in the Nirbhaya Rape and murder case.

Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora was expected to pronounce the order at 3.30 p.m.

The mother of the 23-year-old woman, who was gang raped and tortured on December 16, 2012, that led to her death, told reporters that she was confident that her wait of seven years will finally end and the verdict will be in her favour.

The convicts will be produced before the court through video conferencing.

All the six accused were arrested and charged with sexual assault and murder. One of the accused was a minor and appeared before a juvenile justice court, while another accused committed suicide in Tihar Jail.

Four of the convicts were sentenced to death by a trial court in September 2013, and the verdict confirmed by the Delhi High Court in March 2014 and upheld by the Supreme Court in May 2017, which also dismissed their review petitions.

"The prosecution said that the review petition by the convicts was dismissed by the Supreme Court and that there was no pending application before any court or the President as of now."

Being a mother its very hard to digest what happened to her beloved daughter... however after 7 to 8 years seeking death penalty also will not give justice to the victims soul... so victims mother can live in a noble way which showed by Sister Maria's mother and siblings and the hardcore murderer repented his sins for killing Sr. Maria and now he is really converted from bad to good soul.

Death penalty will not bring Sister Nirbhaya back to the living world but forgiveness can really change some souls in her name through her mothers forgiveness...

    Gangaram,
In your theory if everybody forgive, then Criminal will get Open License to do worst Crimes in the Society. If their death Penalty commuted to life imprisonment then they apply for Parole or early release with the help of third grade Politicians...

Its better send them to Yama Puri as early possible.

What a bad luck. Hanging was almost set but last moment twist on the verdict. Mercy plea and the social unrest on CRP, CAA and the present protests and unrest on the JNU brutal attacks on the campus students. Importance has been diverted to other issues. Our president should take special interest on the matter to complete the final process.
