Bangalore, Sep 27 (DHNS) : Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday called upon doctors not to resign enmasse to protest against the package announced by the government. The doctors, however, appear to be determined on their resignation plan. 

Speaking to reporters on the sidelights of a programme at Kalagrama near Bangalore University, the Chief Minister said that the medical fraternity has to understand the situation in the State before going in for any agitation. “ I request them not to take any hasty decision,” he said.
 
Doctors should not look merely at monetary benefits but also be service-minded in their approach. “We have hiked their salaries even when the financial situation of the State is not good,” he added. Meanwhile, doctors  affiliated to the Karnataka Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) have decided not to change their mind despite the hike in allowance announced on Friday.

Its Secretary Dr G A Srinivasa said, "We will resign on September 20 and will work till October 15 as notice-serving period. We will then get self-relieved and opt for private practice.”

He added that the decision was taken when the Additional Chief Secretary committee, formed to correct the disparity had not called the KGMOA representatives for any discussion even once and unilaterally took a decision with the Cabinet on September 25.
