Mangaluru: Pumpwell flyover work racing to meet January 31 deadline

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 15: As per the written commitment given by project director of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and director of Navayuga Company which is executing the Pumpwell flyover work, the flyover link on Thokkottu side is likely to be opened on January 15.

The other commitment about completing the road connectivity from the direction of Nanthoor, for which January 31 is the deadline, is also likely to be met as work is going on a war footing now.

Protective walls on both sides of the road have been partially completed and the work of strengthening the walls by filling mud is progressing. Work is also being conducted at night with the help of lights.

The fact that the deputy commissioner of the district was given the work of supervising the progress of the project at a meeting held on December 31 presided over by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, appears to have worked wonders. A committee having NHAI project director, national highways executive engineer, PWD executive engineer and Mangaluru tahsildar is verifying progress on a day-to-day basis. The deputy commissioner holds meeting with the committee members every day and issues directions to the concerned.

Tahsildar of Mangaluru taluk Guruprasad, said that the committee appointed for the purpose is giving daily reports to the deputy commissioner, and the engineers appointed to the committee are checking quality of work. He said that the work is moving on a fast pace now.

The district administration is preparing to initiate legal measures against the project director of National Highways Authority of India and Navayuga director, if the work is not finished by the deadline given.

Prabhu,,, Kasal maraya... State Government has no involvement.. it is NH road, our Nalin Anna & Our Central Minister Gowda must have taken serious interest to complete.

Now, DC is brought in the picture, because Naleen Anna cannot understand administrative matters and legal matters that may be obstacles for the progress.

Don't speed too much to reach the deadline.. dangerous to common man riding on this. Over speeding is dangerous, since construction of this monument is going on since a decade we all inaugurate with full fun fare a year after. The performance of this monument is to tested after few month and recorded in Guinness world Record.
