ICC awards: Netizens all praise for Kohli, Rohit


New Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS): Twitterati on Wednesday heaped praise on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who have won big at the ICC Awards for 2019.

While opener Rohit won the ODI Cricketer of the Year award, captain Kohli won the ICC 'Spirit of Cricket' award for his heartwarming gesture towards Steve Smith, asking the fans to not boo the Australian batsman during a 2019 World Cup group game.

Praising Kohli, BCCI wrote: "#TeamIndia Captain Virat Kohli is the winner of the 2019 ICC Spirit of Cricket Award for his heart-warming gesture to ask the fans to not boo Steve Smith in #CWC19 game against Australia."

In another tweet, the Indian cricket board praised Rohit. "The ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award goes to none other than the HITMAN for his stupendous show with 5 centuries in the ICC Cricket World Cup and 7 ODI centuries in 2019."

A user on miro-blogging site lavished praise on Kohli and said: "King is King He loves cricket and the person who plays it."

"Congratulations @imVkohli and please come at position no.3 we want to see u like the king run machine" added another. There were other tweets in praise of Rohit.

A Tweeple remarked, "Most deserving player for this.. hope he will shine more and more in coming years."

Another post read, "Congratulations #Hitman...we are waiting for more awesome innings from you this year..#RohitSharma #Hitman #iccawards2019"

Besides, Kohli was also named the captain of ICC Test and ODI teams of the years.
