Mumbai, Oct 2: Congress MP Priya Dutt led a ‘Padayatra’ on Thursday October 1, with Mumbai Congress spokesperson and Congress candidate from Ville Parle constituency, Krishna Hegde, through Bamanwada and Kabir Nagar (ward number 77) areas considered to be strongly pro-Congress. Both these areas have been dominated by the Congress Party since the past four decades. They were joined by Bamanwada Congress corporator Nitin Salagre and former corporator Winnie D’Souza.



Over 200 Congress activists joined the ‘Padayatra’, which was received with tremendous fanfare with people applying tilak and performing aarti to Priya and Krishna Hegde. Priya’s husband, Owen Roncon, also joined the ‘Padayatra’ to solicit support for Krishna.

Krishna Hegde said, “These areas have been facing severe water crisis for the past few years. Solving the water problem will be one of my priorities after being elected to the office. Also other infrastructure issues will be dealt with effectively and efficiently.”

The morning Padayatra covered ward number 77 that includes the Congress stronghold areas of Kabir Nagar and Bamanwada.

The ‘Padayatra’ covered areas like Ram Baug, Brandan Bungalow – Vailankani Cross Road – Bank of Baroda Society – M C Chhagla Road – Valmiki Nagar – Ashok Samrat Nagar – Ambedkar Nagar – Shambhaji Nagar – Ambe Wadi – Sanjay Gandhi Nagar – Nehru Road – Police Station Highway – Shastri Nagar – Rajendra Nagar – Laxmi Narayan Temple.

Corporator Kamlesh Rai will accompany the afternoon ‘Padayatra’ (ward number 75) which includes areas such as Anand Nagar – Bhavani Nagar – Hotel Kalpataru – Church Pakhadi Road No 2 - Church Pakhadi Road No 3 – Church Pakhadi – Tank Pakhadi – Cargo Complex – Sahar Road – Sutar Pakhadi – Maulana Azad – Petrol Pump  and Old Sahar village.
