Panaji: Rain Plays Havoc in State

Panaji, Oct 3:  Heavy rains have been lashing the state of Goa for the last two days playing havoc in the state. Canacona taluka is the most affected. More than 500 houses got submerged in Canacona and across the state. Mining rejects got washed on the roads and entered houses at Navelim, Amona and Shirgao.



Fire personnels rescued seven stranded in the flood water in Canacona. Dabolim airport started their services after a break of nearly 6 hours. Konkan railway service has been largely afffected with most of the trains running on the Goa-Mumbai route have been cancelled. 

Fourty houses in Assanora in north Goa got flooded on Saturday affecting more than 100 families. Two persons who were reportedly washed yesterday at Canacona have been declared dead. Around 50 houses in Canacona have been collapsed and more than four hundred are badly affected.

The state government has declared Canacona floods as state disaster.According to the south Goa Collector more than 2000 people have been affected.
