Udupi: Tourist Swept Away by Waves at Malpe

Udupi, Oct 6: Nagaraj (20), a resident of Nyamanahalli village in Holenarasipur taluk of Hassan district, who was dragged away by waves at Vadabhandeshwar, Malpe, while swimming in the sea on Sunday October 4, drowned and died.

Nagaraj had come here to attend a marriage, and had stayed at Hotel Ashraya in Brahmavar. After the marriage function, he had been to the beach. He got dragged in by strong waves while swimming, and his body was swept to the shore about 30 minutes thereafter. He was immediately rushed to Hi Tech Hospital in Udupi, but the doctors there declared him brought dead.

His body has been kept at the mortuary of the district government hospital in Ajjarkad here. On a complaint filed by Harish K G, the Malpe policemen have registered a case.
