Mumbai, Oct 6: A meeting under the aegis of various Kannadiga and Tuluva organizations in the metro was held at Megha Marriage Party Hall on Shimpli Road in Borivli  (west) in the city on Monday October 5 night, to pledge and solicit support for Gopal C Shetty, originally from Santoor near Padubidri, who has been contesting as a BJP candidate from Borivli (west) assembly constituency for the second time.

Leader of the Mogaveera community in the city and BJP leader Sanjeev Kanchan, Bunts Sangh Mumbai president Aikala Harish Shetty, Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti founder Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, Billavara Association Mumbai vice president Nitynanand D Kotian, Karnataka vishwakarma Association Mumbai president Nitte Damodar Acharya, Kulal Sudharaka Sangh Mumbai president P K Salian, Rajapura Sarawswat Samaj Mumbai president Sadanand D Nayak, presidents and office bearers of various organizations, Shiv Sena leaders etc., participated in the meeting and solicited votes for Gopal Shetty in their addresses.

Speaking on the occasion, well-known social activist L V Amin said that Gopal Shetty, who had won from the constituency in 2004 and has worked as the deputy mayor of the local City Corporation earlier, has all the makings to emerge as a strong, leading personality in the future, having already contributed immensely for the development of the city. He exhorted the people to put in honest efforts for the success of Gopal Shetty, who nurses a genuine concern for the welfare of the people and who has a humanitarian attitude, even though his success in the election is almost a foregone conclusion.

Gopal Shetty expressed confidence that he would come out victorious in the election, but cautioned the people not to be over-confident, as the people from all walks of the society and different mindsets caste their votes, duly reminding them that the party had to face disappointment in the Lok Sabha election. He expressed happiness at the fact that some of the speakers had congratulated him for winning respects and laurels for his home district. He expressed the opinion that the workers and those who participated in the meeting have the potential to tilt the voters in his favour.

Tonse Jayakrishna Shetty, who appreciated Shetty to be a large-hearted man with the general welfare of the people on the top of his mind, requested the people to urge their friends and relatives, at least through the SMS, to caste their votes for Shetty. Sanjeev Nayak felt that the success of Shetty is more in the interests of the people at large, rather than for Shetty himself.

Local leaders like Yermal Harish Shetty, entrepreneurs Padmanabh Payyade, Karunakar Shetty, Dr Padmanabh Shetty and many others handed over bouquets to Gopal Shetty and offered their best wishes for his victory.

All the best to Shetty , but MNS factor should not work out same as it did recently in current election with Mr. Ram Naik.
