Panaji: 2700 Hectares of Agricultural Crops Destroyed, Canacona Worstly Hit

Panaji, Oct 7: Around 2700 hectares of agricultural crops have been destroyed in the recent flooding in the state thus affecting more than 1,700 farmers across the state.

Canacona alone recorded around 800 hectares of agricultural crops that has been destroyed.



According to the State Agriculture Department the total agricultural loss has reached to the tune of Rs 11 crores. Chief minister Digambar Kamat along with the other cabinet ministers visited most of the flood affected sites in Canacona and interacted with the flood victims.

The chief minister distributed cheques of Rs 10,000 to every household in addition to Rs 2000 in cash as a interim relief from the state government. Chief minister also annnounced Rs 1 crore aid to the Canacona farmers from the Shetkari Adhar Nidhi in addition to the 5 crores from the centre.

The chief minister also assured the flood victims that all the houses which have been washed away completely in the flood would be built by the state government.
