Bangalore: High Court Stays Datta Peeta Cave Repairs

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Oct 7: The state High Court has granted stay order against the ongoing repairs of Datta Peeta near Chikkamagalur.

The bench comprising Chief Justice P D Dinakaran and Justice Mohana Shantanagoudar, which heard the public interest petition moved on this issue, granted this stay.

It may be recalled that the Datta Peeta cave, located in the Chandradrona Hills located a little distance away from the city, had suffered landslide some time ago. Repair works were recently initiated, after the BJP state president D V Sadanand Gowda, minister K S Eshwarppa, MLA C T Ravi etc., took part in the rituals connected with the starting of the repair works.

The petitioner has complained that the repair works are being conducted after performing puja, in violation of the orders of the High Court and the Supreme Court, that have banned such procedures. After issuing an interim stay, the High Court has caused issuance of notices to the respondents.
