AAP govt made no progress on flyovers, transport: Congress

New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS): Congress leader Sandeep Diskhsit on Wednesday hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying the road transport system has collapsed in the capital under the AAP government with the number of buses on the road having seen a reduction.

"Kejriwal is luring the people with miniscule subsidies and that is why he has not worked for public welfare," he alleged.

Dikshit said that under the Congress government in 2013, the DTC had more than 5,000 buses and now the fleet had been reduced to 3,800 with the ridership coming down to 30 lakhs as against 45 lakh in 2013.

He also lashed out at the the AAP government on the issue of flyovers, saying that during the AAP rule, no new work has been done on all the flyovers.

Citing the record of late Chief Minister and his mother Sheila Dikshit, he said that in 1997, there were 8-9 fly overs but in 2013 after her term ended, the number had increased to 76 and while 67 foot over-bridges were built.

The government also built 30 subways, 32 elevated roads and the road network went to 32,000 km, he added.
