Kasargod, Jan 30: Policemen of the crime branch led Miyapadav higher secondary school teacher, Roopashree’s murder-suspects, her colleague at school, Venkatramana Karanth, and his friend Niranjan, to different sites related to the crime and collected details besides surveying the spots. The investigating team, as per information, was able to obtain certain important information relating to the murder during these visits.
The team has confiscated the hard disk of CCTV camera that has captured the movements of the accused.

The accused were brought to Durgipalla, Miyapadav in the afternoon. Venkatramana Karanth had escorted Roopashree in his car to his residence from Durgipalla in the afternoon on January 16. The scooter of Roopashree was found at Durgipalla. The actions of Venkatramana Karanth arriving by his car to Durgipalla and Roopashree coming by her scooter to the same spot, and Venkatramana Karanth escorting Roopashree in his car, have been captured in the nearby CCTV camera. Those will be primary evidences for the murder. Venkatramana Karanth was subsequently brought to his residence where the murder had taken place. The team has collected details about the spot of the murder and about his alleged burning of clothes worn by him during the murder in order by the accused in order to destroy evidence.
The team inspected and took away the water-filled bucket and small drum in the bathroom as proof. The team also escorted the accused to Manjeshwar and Kumble Peruvad sea side where the dead body of Roopashree was found.
The accused, who were in judicial custody till now, have been remanded to crime branch police custody for five days. “The process of collecting details will continue,” said the investigating team leader. The dead body of Roopashree, who went missing on January 18, had been found at Kumble Peruvad sea shore on January 18.
