After facing flak, Ministry withdraws homeopathy advisory

New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS): After facing the heat for propagating "pseudo science" as alternative medicine for Novel Coronavirus, the Ministry of AYUSH has clarified that the advisory focussed on preventive measures and it did not claim to be a treatment advice for the infection.

In a series of tweets, Ministry of AYUSH wrote, "AYUSH system is based on traditional health practices. The traditional healthcare system of the country provides lifestyle advocacies to boost immunity which helps in prevention of various infectious diseases."

Earlier the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) released an advisory on Wednesday detailing methods of "prevention" for an infection that has affected people around the world.

The tweet read: "Advisory for #CoronaVirus...Homoeopathy for Prevention of Coronavirus Infections...Unani Medicines useful in the symptomatic management of coronavirus infection."

The Ministry also released a statement on Wednesday saying, "Drink Shadang Paniya (Musta, Parpat, Usheer, Chandan, Udeechya & Nagar) processed water (10 gm powder boiled in 1 litre of water, until it reduces to half). Store it in a bottle and drink it when thirsty."
