Bengaluru, Jan 30: FASTag transactions are slowly picking up in Karnataka. According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) data, FASTag accounts to only 60% of total transactions.

However, when compared to other toll plazas, the Surathkal toll plaza in Mangaluru has the highest transaction which is around 70 per cent. Toll plazas in Kagnoli in Dharwad account to 69 per cent and Nagarhalla in Kalaburagi is 66 per cent.

However, while Surathkal is faring well, Talpady in Mangaluru has less than 50 per cent transactions. The case is similar in Bellur and Shanthigrama in Hassan, Kamkole and Kannole in Kalaburagi.

The crucial toll plaza at Sadahalli in Bengaluru, where people going to airport have to pass has 59 per cent transactions. The Electronics City elevated toll plaza it is at 60%.

The ministry of road transport and highways exempted Bengaluru's Sadahalli, Electronics City, Doddakarenahalli, Hoskote, Attibele grade section, Bellur and Bengaluru-Nelamangala plazas from 100% FASTag transaction mandate due to excessive traffic holdups.

However, post February 14, only two to three lanes will be available at seven toll plazas in Bengaluru for cash payments and only one in other NH toll plazas.
