New Delhi, Feb 3 (IANS): Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Sunday spoke for the first time on the nearly two-month-old anti-CAA protest at Shaheen Bagh, urging the protesters, through the media, to move away from the main roads and not block them.

Interacting with journalists here, he, referring to the incident of firing in the air near the protesters on Saturday, said that the youth concerned had no "courage" to do anything more.

On the two cases of shooting in the area in the last two-three days, he said both the incidents were "different". "Police have made all the necessary arrangements at Shaheen Bagh," he said.

On security arrangements for the February 8 Assembly elections, Patnaik assured that the polling will be held peacefully with nearly 59,000 security personnel - 40,000 of the Delhi Police and 19,000 Home Guards - to be deployed.

He said police were keeping an eye on sensitive spots, and all personal of the local and traffic police as well of the security wing were on the alert.
