New Delhi, Feb 4: The government on Tuesday, February 4 clarified that the term ‘Love Jihad’ is not defined under current law and also said that no case has been reported till date by any central agencies.
G Kishan Reddy, union minister of state for home said that Article 25 of the Constitution states the freedom to profess, practice and propagate religion subject to public order, morality and health.
Earlier, Kerala high court and various other courts have also spoken in line with the government’s view.
Minister in a reply to a written question said, "The term 'Love Jihad' is not defined under the extant laws. No such case of 'Love Jihad' has been reported by any of the central agencies."
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has till now investigated two cases involving inter-faith marriage, the minister added.
