Puttur: Municipality on Demolition Drive Flattens Illegal Building

Puttur, Oct 18:
In a demolition drive by Town Municipality here, an illegally constructed building near the bus stand was mowed down amid tight police security on Saturday October 17.
 
Over hundred years old Yelthimar building, owned by Y Raghuram Sheneoy was demolished as the public works department through its survey termed the building as dangerous. A total of eight shops were demolished in this operation.



The town municipality has been on a demolition drive since last year, which had prompted many a building owners to move to the court including the owner of Yelthimar building. The drive is being undertaken as part of efforts to widen main roads of the town.

Meanwhile, town municipality president Rajesh Bannur said that the demolition drive will continue against the illegal constructions to provide proper roads. The demolition drive will be carried against all the illegal constructions like compound walls and extensions among others, he clarified.
