Congress' Nagma accuses Union Min for Delhi firing incidents

New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS): Congress star campaigner Nagma on Tuesday blamed Union Minister Anurag Thakur for the incidents of firing in the Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia Islamia area, as she accused the BJP of creating polarisation for the February 8 Assembly elections.

Addressing a public meeting in Dwarka for Congress' candidate Adarsh Shastris, the yesteryears actress said: "Thakur is responsible for the incidents of shootings in Jamia amd Shaheen Bagh areas."

She said the BJP is playing with emotions of Delhi voters for polarisation ahead of the assembly elections.

Hitting out further at Thakur, who had raised slogans of "shoot the traitors" at a poll rally, Nagma further said that if the MoS had known the dignity of the chair then he would not have asked the people to raise such slogans.

The Election Commission had barred Thakur for campaigning in the assembly elections for 72 hours.

Polling for the 70-member Delhi assembly is scheduled on February 8 while the counting of votes will take place on February 11. The Congress, which ruled the city for 15 years from 1998 to 2013 is looking for a comeback in Delhi. However, it was reduced to zero seats in 2015 assembly polls while the AAP won 67 seats and the BJP managed to get three seats.
