Kasargod, Feb 5: Custom officials seized gold worth Rs 6.2 crore being illegally transported in a car on Tuesday, February 4. Two men who hail from Maharashtra were also arrested.

The car was stopped near Bekal Pallikere toll booth by Kannur-Kasargod custom officials, after a tip-off that gold was being transported illegally from Kannur.

When the police stopped the car bearing Maharashtra registration number, the two youth identified as Khetan (29) and Akash (23) tried to flee.

Upon careful inspection, gold billets weighing 15.5 kilograms were recovered. Holes were drilled in the front and rear car seats and gold was carefully hidden in the cushioning. The arrested suspects confessed that the gold was being transported from Thalassery to Maharashtra. The custom officials are investigating to find others involved in the case.

I am sure that these smugglers are from the holy state of Gujrat.

I am also doubtful that they have link with high politicians. We want to know full story and persons who are beyond this.

Gujrat is famous for illegalo activities like smuggling of gold + printing of duplicate currency notes + export of beef which is banned in India etc. I am sure that this case will be closed soon and will not be be investigated further due to involvement + pressure from politicians.
