Sullia: 16-year-old rider killed as bike rams into bus, another youngster injured

Sullia, Feb 9: A teenager was killed in a collision between a bus and a two-wheeler at Kodankere in Aranthodu here on Saturday February 8.

The deceased has been identified as Vineeth K M (16).

Rajappa (22) who was riding pillion sustained head injuries and has been hospitalised.


It is gathered that Vineeth and Rajappa were riding towards Madikeri from Sullia when their bike rammed into an oncoming KSRTC bus. The impact was such that both got thrown on to the road.

Sources said that Vineeth was riding the bike recklessly, which resulted in the accident.

The KSRTC bus driver and the conducted immediately rushed the injured persons to Sullia government hospital, where Vineeth breathed his last the same evening. Rajappa was taken to another hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment.

Sullia police have registered a case.

    Nothing to be surprised on this incident but one more precious life is lost due to irresponsible behavior of the parents and the rider himself. You will see these kind of minor boys and girls riding two wheelers in thousands on our roads.

    It's not a monster bike it's a commuter street bike Pulsar NS 200, bikes above 300 CC like KTM RC 390, Kawasaki ninja 300 , TV's Apache RR310 are monster bikes as you put it.

    Wow reply was quick as a gazelle isn't it , I didn't say anything about the underage teen riding the motorcycle was legal the opinion was regarding the technicality.

    Mr. Subash, Mangalore: The person the riding the bike was a Minor and it is immaterial what type of bike a person rides. Life lost is lost and can not be brought back. RIP.

    The reason I often advice young riders to drive as slow as possible & to be extra careful on curvey roads, driving on high speeds on twisted roads in turn leads to take a long cut at the same time counter steering completly fails possibly ending up hitting a incoming vehicle.
