Dharmasthala to Mangaluru in just 40 mins: Ambulance driver Hameed saves man's life

Beltangady, Feb 9: In a praiseworthy act, the driver of an ambulance saved the life of a man who suffered heart attack, by rushing him from Dharmasthala to Mangaluru in just 40 minutes.

Hameed Adarshnagar, driver of Mangala ambulance is being lauded by one and all for his courage and timeliness in getting a critically ill patient in time to hospital.

A 40-year-old man, native of Chikkaballapur, had come to Dharmasthala on pilgrimage. During the pilgrimage, he suffered heart attack. After providing first aid to him at Ujire, the doctors advised to take him immediately to Mangaluru for advanced treatment. The doctors also said that any delay would be fatal for the patient.

Hameed took it as a challenge and rushed the patient in the midst of heavy traffic and covered the distance of 65 km in just 40 minutes, thus saving the man's life.

The doctors, who were waiting for the patient, immediately sprung into action and gave the required treatment, due to which the patient recovered.

Hameed was later felicitated by the doctor and relatives of the patient.
