Udupi: Sub-jail, Home for Illegal Activities

Udupi, Oct 26: District superintendent of police (SP), Pravin Madhukar Pawar, had conducted a raid on the local sub-jail on the night of Saturday October 24.

During the raid, he found mobile phones, sim cards, gutkha and cigarette packets, curved knives used in cock fights, whiskey bottles and knives. The SP said that he would send a report on his findings to thedistrict administration as well as the additional director geneal of police, department of prisons, Bangalore.

There had been complaints that the officials supervising the jail are lax in their duties and illegal activities were being allowed to be carried out in the sub-jail without any hastles. It is expected that the authorities concerned will now initiate disciplinary action against the staff manning the sub-jail.
