Panaji, Oct 28: Sanatan Saunstha, an institution under police scanner after Goa blast, has termed the explosion and subsequent happenings as an attempt to finish the institution, whom many corrupt politicians fear.

“We have been teaching virtuous living and many corrupt politicians fear us. Margao bomb blast and incidents after that is a well-planned conspiracy to finish Sanatan Saunstha,” Virendra Marathe, Managing Trustee, Sanatan Saunstha, told reporters here this morning.

The outfit termed death of two of their seekers – Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik – as a murder `by planting the bomb in their scooter.’

Police had contended that both had died in Margao blast apparently when they were ferrying the explosives on the scooter.

“Police are not interested in investigating the conspiracy angle which is also a thick possibility. Very detailed investigation of Sanatan has not fetched anything for the police so its time now for them to look at the other side of possibility,” Marathe, who was initially quizzed by Goa police, said.

Sanatan Saunstha came under police scanner after both the accused ferrying explosives and fell prey to the blast, had linkages with the institution.

Its Ashram at Ramnathi was continuously searched by special investigation team (SIT) sleuths as a part of the blast probe. Saunstha’s activities ranging from publishing of books, ved pathshala and news paper publication were scanned by the sleuths.

Sanatan officials calling for a special press conference in Panaji on Wednesday, October 28 demanded that police investigation amounting to mental torture and defamation of the sanatan seekers would be stopped.

“Even if we consider that one or two seekers of sanatan did do a wrong act how far is it correct to hold the entire sanatan to ransom?  There are so many workers of criminal tendency in political parties but has the investigation of any political party been conducted in this manner?,” he questioned.

“The police department has placed the sword of Damocles on Sanatan’s head by saying that the investigation of sanatan Ashram has been completed but as per requirement it can be taken up again,’’ Marathe said.

Sanatan has said that it has no political support but voices from Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) are supporting them during their odd-days.

“Legislators like Manohar Parrikar, Dayananand Mandrekar from BJP and party’s state chief Sripad Naik has spoken in our favour. There are many individuals who firmly believe that we are innocent,” the managing trustee said.

He admitted that Jyoti, wife of state transport minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar is an active member of the organization. “She is having a banking background so she is helping us in the accounts,” Marathe said.

The sanatan officials said that they have set up base in Goa considering the pious nature of the land.

“Compared to temples in Maharashtra, Goan temples are more pious,” he said.

Sanatan Saunstha also said that the blast probe and related publicity has come as a setback to the institution’s activities. “We are being looked with suspicious eyes,” he conceded.
