Panaji, Feb 27 (IANS): The Goa Congress used the passage of resolution against NRC in the Bihar Assembly on Tuesday to fire salvo at the ruling BJP in the coastal state, here on Wednesday.
Addressing a the media, Goa Congress spokesperson Trajano D'Mello said the BJP MLAs, who had passed a resolution in the Assembly earlier this month hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), should now collectively urge the duo to pack Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar off to Pakistan.
"Those MLAs who helped pass a resolution congratulating the CAA, should now make a public appeal to Shah to sack Nitish Kumar and send him to Pakistan," D'Mello said.
"Whenever the Congress expresses opposition to divisive laws, like CAA and NRC, we are trolled as 'anti-nationals'. Nitish Kumar, a BJP ally in Bihar, has helped pass the resolution against the NRC now? Is he anti-national too? Then why is the BJP in government with him," D'Mello said.
On Tuesday, the Bihar Assembly unanimously passed a resolution to not implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The resolution also sought the implementation of the National Population Register in the previous format.
On February 4, the Goa Assembly had passed a resolution congratulating the Prime Minister and the Home Minister for facilitating the passage of the CAA.
