Mangaluru: Social worker Tabassum conferred annual Press Club award

Mangaluru, Feb 29: Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union (DKDWJU), Mangaluru Press Club and Patrika Bhavana Trust celebrated Press Club Day at Radhakrishna Mandir, Urwa on Saturday, February 29.

Actor Roopesh Shetty inaugurated the programme.

“Media plays an important role in the society as they are the ones who highlight the problems of the society,” Shetty said.

Padmashree awardee Harekala Hajabba and journalist Guruvappa Baalepuni were felicitated.

Social worker Tabassum who runs Snehadeep that takes care of children affected by HIV/AIDS was felicitated with 'Press Club' award.

The selection committee comprising of Balakrishna Gatty, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla and Dr Nagaveni Manchi had selected Tabassum for the press club award.

DCP Laxmi Ganesh, senior journalist Manohar Prasad, Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union president Srinivas Nayak Indaje, Patrika Bhavana Trust president Ananda Shetty and others were present.

Mangaluru Press Club president Annu Mangaluru welcomed the gathering, Harish Rai compered the programme.
