'People I Trusted Let Me Down' - Yeddy Breaksdown on TV

'People I Trusted Let Me Down' - Yeddy Breaksdown on TV

NEW DELHI, Nov 7 (PTI): With tears in his eyes, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa blamed the dissidents for shifting focus from relief work to the politics as dissident Reddy brothers held out despite a reported compromise formula.

"I apologise to the flood victims. When they are facing so many problems, we should not have wasted time on this crisis," he told Kannada channel "Suvarna".

He said the people he trusted did not support him. "I should have not been distracted. I hope God will forgive me," the Chief Minister said.

Rediff Adds:

A last-ditch attempt by the Bharatiya Janata Party high command to resolve the ongoing crisis in the Karnataka government appears to have failed, with the rebel state ministers -- Tourism Minister Janardhan Reddy, Revenue Minister Karunakar Reddy, Chairman of Karnataka Milk Federation Somashekhar Reddy and Health Minister B Sriramulu -- sticking to their demand for the removal of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa .

Janardhan Reddy, who held a meeting with his brother Karunakar Reddy, told a press conference in Bengaluru that he is hopeful that the party high command will give in to their demands.

State Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, who is camping in New Delhi, told that the contentious issues have been sorted out by the high command, but the party is yet to make a formal announcement about the same.

When asked whether senior BJP leaders would cave in to the rebels' demand of reallocating the Home portfolio, he said, "I don't think so".

But according to the 'compromise formula' reportedly adopted by the party, the BJP's top brass has accepted every demand put forward by the rebel leaders, except their demand for the CM's removal.

The vetting team:

The party will reportedly constitute a vetting team, comprising senior BJP leaders, which will supervise each and every decision made by the CM. The team will be headed by Arun Jaitley and will comprise senior state leaders including Ananth Kumar and Jagadish Shettar. This committee will scrutinise every decision taken by the CM including the transfer of state officials.

Change of ministers:

The Reddy camp has demanded that Rural Development Minister Shobha Karandlage, Home Minister V S Acharya and Irrigation Minister Basavaraj Bommai be removed from the cabinet. These important portfolios, held by ministers who are considered to be part of Yeddyurappa's inner coterie, will be handed over to the Reddy faction.

The Reddy faction will also get the lucrative ministries of Industry and PWD. Janardhan Reddy, who holds the tourism portfolio, will become the minister for Large and Medium Industries.

Shettar, who had been portrayed as a chief ministerial candidate by the Reddy faction, will continue as the Speaker of the assembly.

Mid term poll:

The party central leadership has made it clear to the rebels that if they don't agree to the compromise formula, the state might face mid-term polls, which will not go down well with the voters. The Reddy faction, which is adamant about seeking a leadership change, has been told to either accept the compromise formula or face mid-term polls.

The party leaders have told the Reddy faction that this kind of public squabbling was hurting the party's reputation.

The party leadership's stance:

The party top brass has also ignored the resignation letters submitted by the 55 Members of Legislative Assembly on Friday, who are backing the powerful and affluent Reddy brothers. The BJP leadership, which has been ridiculed for its perceived soft stance in dealing with the issue, wants to send out a clear message that they will not be bullied by any faction of the party.

However, unrelenting members of the Reddy faction, who are currently in Bengaluru, will soon head to Delhi to lobby with the party top brass again.

This is just the wind blowing before the big one. Ever since few miscransts attacked Holy Sacrament, I was always thinking, that day will come. This is real curse we asked from God. One after another. Floods, news of a man killed so many innocent young girls, our neighbouring states pulling away everything from us, now our leader only had to shed tears in public, which never happened in the History of our time. As I said this is just the wind at the beginging, and when tornedo hits everything will be wiped out. Before God swings his sword repent, and don't harm others

It does't matter, when a defenseless group of any religious faith is beging targeted for calculated persecution, then the Almighty God will interfere at the right time. Your chair is shaking and the whole party is in a total disarry all across India. More events are yet to happen, this is simply the prelude of a great political drama. The irony is that a natural disaster as started the political bicker between the CM and the Reddy brother’s and this disaster will decide the fate of the political career of Yeddi or Reddy’s. If Yeddi retains the power then Reddy’s will have no political career and like wise. Elders say not to trust men who break in tears and women when they smile. Both are deceptive and out of their nature. Should anyone believe Yeddy now? If he was so bothered about the flood victims he should have resigned and started rehabilitation work leaving the kurci to someone else. Now even if he remains CM what is the use? A Rubber Stamp? A committee to evaluate his work, Ananth Kumar (man behind this entire drama) and Shetter to review Yeddy's performance, his close aides such as Bommai, Acharya and Shobha being stumped by Reddys.

Then what will Yeddy do? BJP used to criticise Congress of dynasty rule. But they fielded their own sons, daughters, brothers and sisters and equalled Congress. They blamed Sonia of living within coterie and in Karnataka BJP CM is within the coterie. They blamed Congress of gross corruption and Reddys are proving that they are worse than Congress while their former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda is caught in a huge scam. They blame Congress of not hanging Afzal Guru who is behind attack on Parliament but Girish Mattennavar who planted bomb in Vidhana Soudha is Karnataka youth BJP president. Cong was often criticized of being unruly and filled with in-fighting but BJP has now gone one step ahead in internal bickering.

They boasted of discipline, principles etc and now everyone can see what is their discipline and principles. Congress needed 60 years to reach this level but BJP has gone further down within 10 years! Indeed a party with differences!

None of the political party in Karnataka or Centre is questioning the Mine-Reddy Brothers on their ill-wealth which otherwise would have been the Revenue of the State. Even AP Politicians and our own political parties are involved in this fraud of the Century. The street smart Mine-Reddy brothers had put Carrot before the Cart of collecting 500 Crores for the Flood Relief. By the ways, whose money is this? Our CM has lost the support of its party MLA's....in all fairness he should resign & seek new manadate..Even our Home Minister who is camping in Delhi pleading for CM, should also accept the moral responsibility & resign.... What a shame to stick to the chair !!

This is what Karnataka people voted for. We asked for it. When the flood victims suffer, the entire govt is busy in protecting their chairs. This is a lesson for us voters.

This is the beginning of the curse of thousands of innocent Christians who were the victim of church attack and other racial attack.. Those tears shed by innocent Christians will sweep away the BJP like a giant wave in the rough sea. Before total collapse rather than shedding crocodile tears, Mr. yediyoorappa should rush to the nearest church for shelter.

It seems like the citizens of karnataka have elected BJP govt to power for entertaining their own drama insteed to rule/govern the state to developmemnt & progress. What BJP did inlast so many months is just wasting the tax payers money to fly to delhi /karantaka for their own party'sake..shit on these politicians!

What is the Central Govt doing- sitting back n watching the tamasha while the people in distress in N Karnataka are suffering immensely. For the inaction in N karnataka the Governor shd take over the reins of Govt and dissolve the assembly since it appears that only "ill begotten money" is today talking- bribing MLA's, sending thenm on holidays to Goa and Hyderabad so they will be far from the scene and hordes of them in N Delhi- this is absolute nonsense.
