Bengaluru, Mar 1: G T Devegowda has been a leader and former minister, who has built a bastion in Chamundeshwari constituency which has remained loyal to him, and the loyalty of his voters can be gauged by the crushing defeat he handed to former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, in this constituency in 2018. Devegowda has been vocal in expressing his opinions, and his praise of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has put his party, the JD(S), in a quandary in the past.

After the coalition government in the state crashed, Devegowda has been maintaining discreet distance from the JD(S) leaders, H D Deve Gowda, and H D Kumaraswamy. Deve Gowda in particular feels that the former minister is betraying his party and therefore wants to teach him a lesson by expelling him from the party.

Devegowda who was given higher education ministry in the coalition government, was unhappy about this potfolio. He also had a grouse against Siddaramaiah for playing clandestine role in the functioning of the coalition. Therefore he mostly had distanced himself from the party activities. After the government doomed, he has cut off all connections with the party. He did not attend meetings or conventions of the party. Party supremo, H D Deve Gowda, is reportedly angry at the fact that Devegowda who has eminence and clout, has been remaining dormant instead of contributing to the building of the party.

The fact that G T Devegowda is often seen in the company of BJP leaders publicly has infuriated H D Deve Gowda. He is unhappy with Devegowda's association with BJP leaders, ministers, and chief minister. In the recent election held to the legislative council, Devegowda had voted for the BJP candidate by defying the instructions of the party, National president of the JD(S), Deve Gowda, treats these things as anti-party activities. Therefore, it is said that he has asked state JD(S) president, H K Kumaraswamy, to serve show cause notice on Devegowda. JD(S) sources say that a decision on expulsion may be taken once response from Devegowda is received.

Now the people are curious to know whether Devegowda will respond to the notice, and what steps will he initiate if Devegowds ignores the notice.
