Mangaluru: 30-year-old man dies in lift accident at wedding hall near Kallapu

Mangaluru, Mar 1: In an unfortunate incident, a man died after a lift accident at a wedding hall near Kallapu on Sunday March 1.

The deceased has been identified as Hamza (30), a resident near Thumbay.

It is learnt that Hamza was doing catering at a wedding held in the hall. At around 2 pm, he was getting ready to bring utensils and other things by lift from the third floor of the hall. All of a sudden, the lift's ropes came loose and Hamza lost his balance and got trapped inside.


Hamza was rescued and rushed to a hospital in Deralakatte, but he breathed his last on the way.

Hamza was working in a shop at Kudroli. He leaves behind his wife and three children.

    RIP,
    which century we are leaving like 'open well and pools' on those olden days in villages where many animals and human beings lost their lives for not mistake of thiers.
    Even now people spend in lacs for digging well but would not cover with a thousand rupees boundary wall.

    this is not normal poeple carrying elevator it was just open motorised elevator used to lift utensils , like one that is used in building construction. i have seen a week ago in that hall.
    the hall being most common hall for marriage these days.. management could have developed good elevator there.

    In India there is no proper regulations such as in Dubai All elevators must have a maintenance contract Third party inspections Rope replacement after 5 years. Sad to say...no one is following these health and safety related issues

    Ann, which part of Dubai you're talking about. Have you been to But Dubai where there are 40 year old buildings with no maintenance carried in lifts for the past 30 years . Even some of the newer buildings in marina have lift issues which are a death trap but the greedy landlords don't carry out maintenance of the buildings let alone the lifts.

    I dont understand what is this?There is no security in the lift and also lift is not proper.Government not taken any problems therefore all are dying in lift.Give justice 😡😡😡

    Our defective judicial system makes it nearly impossible for the family of victims to sue manufactures to get compensation. All political parties have a vested interest in keeping judicial system weak.
