About Karnataka Sangha
In order to comb in all those like minded Kannadigas in the soil of UAE under one umbrella, the late Umesh Nanthoor opened up a forum called Karnataka Sangha Sharjah under the auspices of Sharjah Indian Association in the year 2003. He was the first elected president of KSS, the sole aim of which is to serve the motherland as able children, wiping out the differences of castes and religion, doing away with politics of any kind and uniting for the cause of developing art, language, literature and folklore in this part of the world.
This then resulted in creating awareness about one’s motherland, culture and respect among the children of Kannadigas living in UAE. The youth started showing their talent which was recognized and honoured by the management of KSS. KSS then produced able leaders like Ganesh Rai, Prabhakar Ambalthare and Noel D’Almeida with Mark Denis as the patron who took forward KSS activities. KSS also had enthusiastic secretaries like Prabhakar Shenoy, Mohammed Shahad, Shantaram Achar, Satish Poojary and Nithyanand.
