Mumbai police say no to PMC depositors' protest

Mumbai, March 2 (IANS): The Mumbai Police refused to grant permission to the Punjab & Maharashtra Cooperative Bank's depositors to hold a protest at the Reserve Bank of India building in Bandra Kurla Complex here on Monday.

The protest was cancelled in view of prohibitory orders clamped in the the vicinity in view of the CAA-NRC-NPR agitations in Delhi and its fallout.

PMC Depositors Association activists informed others via social media that their proposed agitation would be on hold for at least 10 days or till the ban orders are lifted.

However, some representatives of depositors were assured of a meeting with the RBI officials, details of which are awaited.

The PMC Bank's aggrieved depositors have been agitating virtually non-stop ever since the bank was embroiled in a multi-thousand crore rupees scam which came to light last September.
