Coronavirus: 284 under home isolation in Karnataka - DK, Udupi on high alert

Bengaluru, Mar 3 (IANS): The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Services department is observing 284 people under home isolation across the state for coronavirus symptoms, a health official said on Monday.

"We are observing 284 people across the state, including in Bengaluru, for coronavirus symptoms," the department's communicable diseases wing joint director Prakash Kumar told IANS. However, no positive coronavirus case has been reported from Karnataka so far.

Currently, one person has been admitted to the hospital for coronavirus symptoms, Kumar confirmed.

Five Karnataka districts bordering Kerala namely Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru, continue to be under surveillance after three positive coronavirus cases were reported in Kerala.

Starting January 20 till Monday, 39,391 passengers have undergone thermal screening for coronavirus at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

Of all the people screened at the airport, only three had a history of visiting coronavirus epicentre Wuhan in China. A total of 180 people travelled to China other than Wuhan, while 1,984 people travelled to other coronavirus affected countries.

According to the health department's bulletin, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared coronavirus epidemic affecting 28 countries as an 'International Public Health Emergency'.

Of the 245 coronavirus symptomatic samples sent for examination, 240 were marked as eligible for testing even as 238 samples have been declared negative from the state so far.

The 104 Arogya Sahayavani call centre, assigned to receive calls to provide guidance on coronavirus, has attracted 6,770 calls thus far.

"In case people with recent travel history to China and other affected countries develop any symptoms, they are requested to call 104 or health authorities and provide all necessary details in order to take precautionary measures and are requested to be home isolated," the health department said.

Meanwhile, 179 passengers screened by the health department have completed the mandatory 28-day observation period.

The deadly virus has killed a total of 2,912 people in mainland China, bringing the global death toll to more than 3,000, authorities said on Monday.

I don't afraid for any virus Lord is my shepherd and at Paul tells us If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord(Romans 14:8) then why tension?

If we compare us with rest of the countries, the spread is minimum..we have succesfully evacuated people, tested ..with 2nd largest population, hundreds of operating Airports the number of infection very very less..since Virus can transmit very easliy, more than prevention i think only Luck can prevent us from infecting us..unless we invent medicine quickly danger always there..sadly, in this pressing time also Rahul gandhi finds a reason to target PM in corona virus, while he forgot that almost all countries struggling to contain spread due to easy transmission of virus..

Ranga, Mangalore, Your comments make no sense at all. Just read the topic about this COVID-19 which has created panic all over the world. You cannot take this lightly as DK and UDUPI is on high alert. I don't know whether you are a doctor or in a medical profession but I know when unfortunate incident happens we need help from all sources. I also worked for a hospital in New York for 30 years and at that time AIDS(HIV) which I have seen many people mostly youngsters were victims. The whole hospital staff and in fact all were alerted. So my advice is to take the maximum precaution and take doctor's advice before it is too late.

Very sad and dangerous trend. Overseas traveling communities are at greater risks.
Iran has very close ties with China, moreover were reluctant to stop traveling there; also are quite poor in preventive care, which made their people highly vulnerable to corona virus infection.
Due to this, it spread to gulf nations and started affecting to our people working there.
Till preventive vaccine is developed, reportedly will take at least another 3 months, God knows what will be the fate of world population as the decease is very highly infectious !

What a wonderful theory our state and country has when it comes to terming someone as anti-national and mental?

If someone raises pro-Pakistani slogans and if he or she is from non-hindu religions, they they are termed as anti-nationals and there will be scores of people asking them to be hanged and sent to Pakistan.

Now take the case of Raghavendra and Aditya Rao, the airport bomber. They are just mentally ill because they are from majority community.

The duo of changu and mangu are successful in dividing the country on religious line. They only failed to bring CAA as they wished due to the tremendous resistance showed by people across the country.

    Abdul
What is the relation to ur comment and the news of "carona virus"?
For ur kind information CAA is already a LAW and you can't deny that. Ppl of 3 countries now can apply for citizenship of India under the new CAA. This action will start from 1st April of this year.
