Bengaluru, Mar 3: Karnataka chief minister (CM), B S Yediyurappa, said that coverage of 'Jan Sevak' scheme that was implemented to deliver government services at the doorsteps of the general public would be expanded to cover the entire state.

"We have implemented 'Jan Sevak' scheme in T Dasarahalli constituency. Our aim is to provide government services at the doorsteps of the people in order to make their lives easier. The coverage of this scheme has already been extended to constituencies like Rajajinagar, Bommanahalli and Mahadevapura constituencies. In the coming days, the entire state will be covered under this scheme. This scheme, which was initially limited to five services, is now covering 53 government services," he explained to the Assembly.

Yediyurappa also said that in order to stop encroachment of valuable land in the city and to take back the land so usurped, a committee headed by K G Bopaiah has been formed. "This committee would be able to stop unauthorized encroachment of government land in future. The suburban railway scheme has come as a boon for the city. There is no doubt that it will reduce density of people and vehicles. For the investors too this scheme will prove to be profitable. This is a project involving investment of Rs 18,900 crore. State and central government will be investing capital at the ratio of 20:20," he stated, adding that the balance 60 percent will come from the investors.

"We have issued title deeds to 10,000 people by regularizing encroached government lands where poor people have built houses in rural and urban areas. 9,000 such houses were regularized in Bengaluru urban district and 1,000 in the rural district. This is in fact, historic," he claimed.
