Assam too will have Entrepreneurship Mindset like Delhi: Sisodia

New Delhi, Mar 7 (IANS): Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said just like the national capital, Assam too will have the Entrepreneurship Mindset Classes (EMC), calling it a great start.

In a tweet in Hindi, Sisodia said his government started the EMC last year, while he was responding to a tweet from Assam Education and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing the Entrepreneurship curriculum for the students in the state.

"Like Delhi, Assam schools too will have the Entrepreneurship Mindset Classes. Great start Himanta Biswa Sarmaji. We (Delhi government) started EMC in Delhi schools last year. The daily EMC class of children from 9th to 12th has brought great confidence in the children within one year," said the Delhi Education Minister.

Sarma said a total of Rs 149 crore is given for 'Yuva Arohan' in the Assam Budget 2020.

"Development of entrepreneurial mindset in youth for a Resurgent Assam. Intro of 'Entrepreneurship' as a curricular subject from Class XI onwards. 'Nano-entrepreneurship Grant' as Seed Capital for real life projects," Sarma tweeted as he listed the scheme details.

The EMC is a flagship project of the AAP and a brain child of Sisodia.

Launched for the students between Class 9 and 12, it involves connecting knowledge to life outside the school and ensuring that learning is shifted away from rote methods.

Developed by the Delhi State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the curriculum is building awareness and knowledge of various aspects of entrepreneurship among the students.

There is no textbook for the curriculum but only a teacher's manual.
