'Major global airlines to go bankrupt by May end due to coronavirus'

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (MS)

New Delhi, Mar 16: Most of the airlines operating around the globe will turn insolvent by the end of May due to the coronovirus pandemic that has taken the whole world under its monstrous grip, according to CAPA, global aviation consultancy firm. The firm feels that there is an urgent need of coordinated action plan between the respective governments and airlines to avoid the catastrophe.

The airlines on their part have already cut down their operations drastically. Delta Airlines, one of the major operators in USA had decided to ground more than of its flights, which means a reduction of 40% of its operations.

People from most of the European countries are barred from entering USA. Similarly other nations have also taken precautions not to allow citizens of other countries to enter their land to avoid the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

The agency says that the liquidity of the airline companies is being used up fast and the flight are operating at half their usual capacity. The cancellations are outnumbering the reservations as various governments across the globe are placing additional restrictions on travel day by day.

In India, IndiGo airlines, who are the largest operator, consisting of 260 planes in its fleet, said that there is a decrease of 15 to 20 percent in its booking in the past week. The airlines also stated that this will have a big impact on its earnings of the first quarter of this year.

The consultancy firm is of the opinion that only airlines that are well-supported by the governments of respective countries will have some chance of survival.

This BJP government headed by Modi has ruined the Indian economy and that is an undisputed fact. Die hard fans of Modi might never like to admit this but due to the ill advised demonetisation, he has brought the nation to its knees. A flourishing and burgeoning economy has been destroyed and its effects are being felt all over India. But to be fair to Modi, he has handled the corona virus problem efficiently and he deserves a pat on his back for that.

The contingency funds in RBI are reserved for purposes like this. Modi has swallowed up that too.

It is a sorry state of affairs. How can any airlines big or small cans survive with no or less passengers. Even my plans to go to New York via Dubai with my wife had to be put on hold and don't for how long. Health is more important than travelling at this time due to this coronavirus.

Keeping aside the politics impacting the airlines, let's understand a few facts better:
    1. China is a close proximal neighbour of India, yet the Virus bypassed it and landed in Italy first and into the highly developed Europe and now mutilating the US. Why and how?
    2. Mumbai, the thickest of a metro is still the safest place in the country. Why and how?
    3. Going by the density of population in certain metros and cities, the virus would have spread like wild fire. Thank God, we are still counting in 3 digits while it is fully blown the world over. Why and how?

Modi and his team led by the Health Minister, anticipated, visualised and planned a mega wall to contain this epidemic. And that's working beautifully.
India is standing out outstandingly. Thank you Modi & Dr Harshavardhan.

    Bhavya, try to understand this...

Every day thousands of Chinese/ Asians travel to US ,UK or Italy on the trade basis. But Chinese or other asians visit to India on the trade basis merely negligible.

India gets Corona infection only if any infected Indian try to visit his/her family. Initially, Indians were not thinking about the seviority of this virus but now got panicked due to its rapid spreading.

Modi didn't do anything on this measures...it's a basic fact. This is just a beginning, imagine if every Indians is trying to come back to home country, picture will be worse than the Italy.

I agree with peshu ... Most of the infection in Europe is due to the travel that takes place between China and Europe.... Undoubtedly the present government has taken some good steps... But it has nothing to do with why they are fewer cases in India.... It's just because fewer travel takes place between India and China.... So rather than saying ignorent things like India's weather, India's immunity, India's food system this and that is preventing corona cases India, we better be aware of how to stop it from spreading in our country... That's by following basic steps as suggested by WHO.... We should strive to be a modern society based on science ...

    Bhavya,

If your Modi is/was such a magician, why he didn't diagnose on economical disease ? Why he jumped and imposed DeMo ? Why he took charge of CBI/RBI/Judiciary ? Why the contingency funds from RBI were withdraws to fund the banks that had given beyond capacity loans to his corporate friends ?

Please don't try to preach your blind faith on him, on others. The day he said 'Fakhir aadmi hoon... Jhola leker chal doonga' his honey coating vocabulary showed how fake he could be. Because the first thing he did for the politicians is raise their remuneration @200%. Did you read anywhere that this increment is not applicable to the PM ? Or that, the PM being a Fakhir, will not take a Rupee in salary ?

Forget it ! The nation knows the smartness of Modi/Shah duo, you need not waste your time preaching the masses.

I feel the only reason less cases of the virus reported in India because we Indians have a better adapted and evolved immune system.
Being exposed to all that pollution all the time have 'upgraded' our immune systems naturally over the years.

@Ramanath Kamath....You guys are day dreaming of Modi's capacity. He has already finished and ruined Indian Economy. Left out is Andh Bhakts inner garments!. That too may be for sale for GST not reacing it's targeted collections. Merely by changing "Indian Currency Notes Colour and Size" and also the Mahatma Gandhi's picture(water mark) on the notes facing from left to right side earlier and now facing from right to left side) BJP and RSS baffoons made mockery of Indias and even world's highly entelectual P.M and greatest Economist Dr. Manmohan Singhji. We are in Shambles today pushed back to another 15 to 20 years in nations prosparity! In the cming days literally people have to eat and drink 'Gomutra and Cow Dung'
