Udupi, Nov 20:
The district fast track court on Thursday November 19 awarded a life sentence to a man accused of killing his own mother after a minor altercation.

Fast track court judge S N Patil awarded the sentence to 30-year-old Raghavendra, who was accused of crushing his own mother to death with a large stone at their house located in Trasi, near here, on the night of February 2.

Raghavendra fled the spot after the heinous crime and police investigations continued.  Gangolli police nabbed him after a week at the city bus stand where he was working as a cleaner in a bus.

Further investigations by the police revealed that Raghavendra had also undergone one year’s imprisonment a year ago at Bellary on charges of kidnapping a woman.

The fingerprints and bloodstains at the crime scene confirmed that Raghavendra was the murderer.

Public prosecutor Shekar Bovi contested on behalf of the government.
