Udupi, Nov 20: Canara Bank is celebrating its Founders Day today, the birth anniversary of its illustrious founder, Ammembal Subbarao Pai. As the Bank is entering the 104th year of its existence, it has decided to open 104 branches all over the country at a time.
All these branches were inaugurated by union finance minister, Pranam Mukherjee, at a programme held at India International Centre, New Delhi. Out of the 104 branches, 24 are located in Karnataka. In the coastal Karnataka however, the only branch opened today is located in Manipal, opposite MIT Manipal.
All these branches have been equipped with core banking facilities, the bank said.
