The department has already said that it would promote students of first to sixth standards this year without holding examinations. The department had declared holiday till March 31 and was proposing to hold examinations for seventh to ninth standard students thereafter. In the meanwhile, there has been demand from some quarters to pass the students of these classes like the others.

At the meeting held on Tuesday, principal secretary in education department and other officials considered the option of not holding examinations for seventh to ninth standards. But many said that the minister having declared public examination for the first time after a long gap for the seventh standard and invview of preparations having been made for the same, seventh standard public examination should be held as decided. On the option of not holding examinations for eighth and ninth standards, it was decided to discuss and decide the matter later as there is time.

As per earlier plan, examinations for seventh to ninth standards were to begin on March 16 and end on March 23. Because of the holiday declared by the government because of caronavirus scare, these examinations could not be held.

What is this nonsense called "under consideration?". Promote all the students from 1st standard to 9th standard without examination & declare today itself to clear the confusion. Parents are under heavy stress on one side protecting themselves, kids from virus, on the other hand their job, kids school activities etc....All are our children, so don't say under consideration.
