Davangere, Nov 25: Chairman of B K Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry probing the church attacks in the state, Justice Somashekhara, said during the proceedings of the Commission conducted on Tuesday at the auditorium of the district deputy commissioner here, that preparations are on to hand over the interim report of the commission containing about 10,000 pages, shortly.

The report will contain details of the attacks on churches, their fall out, details of hearings, proposals about remedial measures, etc. Out of the attacks that took place in 40 churches in the state, details about the visit to 25 places will also be recorded in the report, he explained.  “We have recorded statements of witnesses from districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bangalore rural, Davangere, Chitradurga, Kodagu, Dharwad, Belgaum, Chikmagalur, Bagalkot, Shimoga, Kolar, Chickballapur and Bellary. The Commission is hopeful of winding up its work by December, and if the need be, the government will be approached for extending its term,” he added. He felt that the incidents in Mangalore were of more complicated nature. Out of 238 affidavits from Davangere, 210 have already been investigated. Statements from 18 police officials were obtained in the Commission’s proceedings in Bangalore, he clarified.
