Udupi: Commissionerate in Mangalore by January – Acharya

Udupi, Nov 28: State home minister, Dr V S Acharya, said that the long-awaited office of the police commissionerate would become operational in Mangalore by January 2010. Addressing a press conference here on Friday November 27, he cited some initial hiccups, followed by the recent floods in north Karnataka as the reasons for the delay in opening the said office.

Acharya also informed that it has been decided at the meeting of peoples’ representatives and officials held on November 27, to extend the facility of ‘on office duty’ for the teachers and students who take part in the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan being held at Ujire from December 10 to 12.
