Karwar: Exposure to Radiation at Kaiga Plant – 40 Employees Treated

Karwar, Nov 28: Double than normal levels of radiation were found in the bodies of 40 employees of the Kaiga nuclear power plant near here during a routine check up on Thursday November 27. All these employees are said to have been engaged in the maintenance work of the first reactor of the plant, which had been shut down recently for maintenance work.

After finding an alarming increase in the radiation, these employees were treated at the hospital located in Mallapur Township in Kaiga. None of them faced any health problems, and they were discharged from the hospital on Friday November 27 after treatment, sources said.
