Mangalore, Dec 16: ‘Ekta Express–Kashmir to Kanyakumari-The Usha Uthup Show’, will be held at St Aloysius College centenary ground, at 5.30 pm on Sunday December 20.
The mega musical concert by India’s top pop singer of three decades Usha Uthup aims at spreading peace and harmony amongst people across the nation.
Usha will sing 18 songs in various languages of the country as well as an English song. She will sing in Hindi, Dogri, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Gujarati, Bengali, Oriya, Sindhi, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Khassi, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, English, Tulu, and Konkani.
Over 20,000 are expected to attend the mega musical extravaganza which has been organized by ‘Mandd Sobhann’.
The three-hour event will be compered by Harish Bhimani of Mahabharat fame.
Internationally-acclaimed musicians from Kolkata will assist in the mega show. Bangalore-based ‘Echostic’ will install speakers of 50,000 watts to enhance the experience for the audience.
Seven cultural troupes will stage dances of their respective regions.
Popularly called ‘Didi’ by her fans in India, she can sing in 18 regional languages and 6 foreign languages.
Some of her Bollywood hits are ‘Tanan Mein’, ‘Kabi Pa Liya Tho Kabi Kho Diya’, ‘Din Hai Na Ye Raat’, ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Laz Ki Kahani’, ‘Doud’, ‘Ramba Ho’, ‘Hum Om Hari’, ‘Shan Se’, and ‘One, two, cha cha cha’.
Usha has also acted in the Bollywood movie ‘Bombay to Goa’ with Amitabh Bachchan in 1972 besides featuring in Malayalam movies.
She has received several awards including the ‘Filmfare National Integration for Quality Music’, ‘Woman Crusader for International Peace’, and the ‘Channel-V-Award for Outstanding Achievement’.
